Berries of the Sweet Tongue
Quick Cast: No
Power Level: 2
Requirements: This spell requires harvesting a handful of fresh Khavu berries from the forests of Tir-Na-Nog. Khavu berries are a sweet round orange/red berry with a cool aftertaste. They can be found in sheltered hollows and among dense clumps of other bushes. The caster must hold the berries and speak a few ancient Sidhe words.
Effect: Whoever consumes the berries prepared is subsequently able to speak and understand the Sidhe language for the rest of the day, until midnight.
Cleansing Moment
Quick Cast: Yes
Power Level: 2
Requirements: The caster merely speaks a few words and completes a complex movement of their hands, then takes hold of the person to be affected if it is not themselves.
Effect: After the caster completes the requirements and the effect is on the target, either themselves or someone else who is allowing it. The recipient and their clothes are now clean. Any grime, dirt, and blood that may be on the clothes or person are removed. Any small tears or scuffs on the clothing are also removed. Optionally, the caster may also apply a slight natural scent that they are familiar with to the recipient.
Encourage Growth (Whispers to Danu)
Quick Cast: No
Power Level: 3
Requirements: The caster merely takes a few moments of quiet contemplation anywhere where there are plants of any type nearby and whisper a plea to the goddess Danu. The caster must also be in contact with the soil of the area.
Effect: The plants within a 50 metre radius experience a surge of growth, about a month’s worth of growth in a few moments.
By increasing the Power Level the caster can choose to affect a wider area or increase the extent of the effect.
Fey Guardian
Quick Cast: No
Power Level: 3
Requirements: Any object from Tir-Na-Nog, and a spoken incantation coupled with the tracing of intricate designs on the floor.
Effect: This spell summons a tiny Fey creature such as a Will-O-Wisp, Sprite, or Brownie from the forests of Tir-Na-Nog and compels the creature to act as guardian of the designated area. If any unknown or new creatures bigger than the Fey creature itself enter the area until the next dawn or dusk the Fey creature will ensure the caster is immediately made aware of the creature and, if necessary, is fully awake.
Once the period of guardianship is over the Fey creature is returned from whence it came and given a small reward of honey, sweet berries, or some sweetened dew drops as per its preference.
Flight
Quick Cast: Yes
Power Level: 4
Requirements: A feather from a flying creature or the bone from the wing of a bird. The caster merely holds the item tightly in their grasp as they whisper an entreaty to the gods of winds and travel. Several variations have been observed to work, so the caster can likely choose the relevant deity they favour. In the case of a wing bone being used to cast the item is not consumed in the casting and may be reused.
Effect: The caster is able to rise into the air at will and travel in any direction as desired without the constraints of gravity. They are able to move at roughly the same rate they can run but they can move as slowly as they choose. They are also able to hover in place. The spell lasts for a number of minutes equal to the success levels of casting.
Herald of the Woods
Quick Cast: No
Power Level: 4
Requirements: To cast this spell the caster must find a friendly small or medium sized creature, such as a bird, squirrel, or dog. The creature must be well disposed toward the caster and able to travel significant distances. The caster must also know of a location and be able to describe someone who can be found at that location. They describe the location and recipient to the creature and then speak a short message, up to 144 words.
Effect: The creature so enchanted will make their way with some haste to the described location and attempt to identify the indicated person at that location. The creature is able to travel at close to their maximum speed for the whole journey, stopping only briefly for some rest and sustenance, but the magic of the spell helps sustain them during the journey. Once the person is identified the message, as spoken by the caster, is delivered. Should there be no one there matching the description of the recipient given at casting, the creature will wait in the area for up to 24 hours for such a person to appear. Note that the recipient can be determined by description such as “a uniformed police officer” or by specific name, such as “Catherine Zeta-Jones”.
Placed Illusion
Quick Cast: Yes
Power Level: 3
Requirements: The caster holds forth their hand, and gestures at the area they wish to effect, moving their fingers in an intricate and practiced manner. A short incantation is whispered in Tamil, the meaning of which is roughly “By my will, so shall it appear”.
Effect: An area roughly 20 foot cubed is then filled with whatever appearance the caster desires. While the caster is within sight of the illusion they are able to manipulate it and change it as desired. For example, an illusion of some plants that the caster places, they may add a bird alighting on a branch or cause some leaves to yellow and fall.
The illusion is visual only, and includes only minor movement without the direct intervention of the caster. For example, an illusion of plants might include some minor movement of leaves and branches as if affected by wind. Or an illusion of a bird on a branch might include the bird looking around and stepping along the branch a little way, backwards and forwards. Any more complex movement desired must be directly controlled by the caster or be programmed in by increasing the Power Level of the casting and determining the extra details when the spell is cast.
The illusion lasts for a number of hours equal to the success levels of the casting and can persist even after the caster has left the area entirely.
The illusion created includes only visual components. For example, an illusion of a fire would not include the sound of crackling flame or the generation of heat. Very experienced casters who have used Placed Illusion many times are sometimes able to add additional senses to the illusion (such as feeling heat or hearing crackling) by raising the Power Level of the casting. Note that these elements cannot be added after the spell is cast.
Reflecting Pool
Quick Cast: Yes
Power Level: 1
Requirements: A still pool of water, or a vessel containing relatively still reflective water. The caster must touch the water. Other liquids may also be used if they also exhibit reflective qualities similar to water.
Effect: The caster is able to make images appear in the reflective surface of the pool or water. The images are completely controlled by the caster and make no sound. The images can be from the caster’s memories, or something imagined.
Returning Point
Quick Cast: Yes
Power Level: 3
Requirements: A valued possession
Effect: The caster is able to take their valued possession and place it somewhere then cast this spell with a complex series of hand and finger movements. Having done so the possession disappears into the astral plane in the point where it was placed. Until the next dawn the caster is able to always sense where that item is, and roughly how far away it is. This they can use to navigate back to the point where they left it and prevent themselves from straying too far.
If the caster leaves the dimension they lose this sense.
The caster can also end the spell at will. When the spell ends the item returns from the astral plane to the physical plane where it was left.
Spontaneous Ignition
Quick Cast: Yes
Power Level: 2
Requirements: Flammable substances (usually wood) and a small piece of flint.
Effect: The caster is able to kindle a fire among the flammable substance with a quick flick of the hand nearby and an ancient word for flame. The fire burns as normal, consuming the flammable material as it normally would if lit with mundane methods. However, the caster is able to modify the intensity of the flame somewhat and can adjust the hue of the flames, as well as the amount of light shed by the fire. Optionally, they may also cause shapes to appear in the flames, such as a suggestion of dancing bodies or writhing serpents. Other shapes can be created but, the more different they are from flames, the more the visual effect might suffer.
The caster is also able to extinguish the fire at will.
If the flammable materials to be effected are in possession of another person, they can make a WIL check to avoid the effect on their possessions.
