Things in Edwin’s Secret Room

A small switchback stair leading to a small observatory.

Two large hanging maps. One of London, one of Britain. Hung over them are some sheets of thin Perspex with markings. Rolled into bundles underneath are additional maps, more Perspex sheets and some whiteboard markers.

More books. Many seem hand copied from much older manuscripts than those out in the rest if the library. Many are wrapped in protective plastic, cloth, thick hide or vellum covering.

Several rows of jars with samples or supplies if things. Many are exotic flowers or plants some seem to be liquids of various sorts.

Hung on a bracket near the door is a sturdy, if old, crossbow and a full quarrel of wooden, we’ll crafted bolts.

A strange angular sort of desk not unlike a roll top desk is latched shut. Another large writing desk sits at the end of the room. A few bundles of papers sit more or less neatly on it. A wide selection of writing equipment is neatly at hand there also.

One shelf seems to contain a series of measuring tools. A sextant, a theodolite, metronome, compass, a sundial, a small telescope and so on.

A bundle of four copies of The Watchers Handbook sit by themselves on a small segregated shelf.

A large chalkboard is attached to a wall and appears to have a cover that can be slid down which is like a pin board. It has a series of diagrams on it representing various mythological cosmologies.

A complex looking clock obscures several shelves and appears to indicate or predict the phases of the moon.

A bundle of books and almanacs on world calendars sits next to it.

Nestled under the stairs is a very solid looking filing cabinet with a simple padlock. It contains bunches of historical photographs, lithographs, even wood cuts. Mostly copies, but some originals (usually with a copy) going back hundreds of years. They all have a year noted, usually a location. Attached to some is a note specifying a particular person in the photo.

On top of the filing cabinet is a small metal tray upon which sits a small electric kettle, and tea pot, cup and saucer, and two small boxes of exotic teas. A little china biscuit barrel with some shortbreads sits next to them. They seem to be the same as those sold at the little tea room in the village.

Also on the desk are two framed pictures of Adora. One quite recent. Maybe a year old. The other, a baby wrapped up in something strange, maybe a mans woolen coat. They are both sitting on top of a well worn old leather bound notebook.
